The Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1942. The Dickinson Community has had a volunteer fire department for 67 years.
The first fire station was located at the corner of Highway 3 and Minnesota Street. This station was in operation from 1961 to 2007. I is still owned by the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department.
In 1998, Station 2, located at 221 FM 517 West was built. The Dickinson Volunteer Department paid approximately $250,000 for the building. The building services the west side of the Dickinson Community. This station is maintained, operated and owned by the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department.
The New Central Fire Station, located at 4500 FM 517 East was built in 2007 for $2.2 million. The building is being paid for by the City of Dickinson.
Future Plans - The current growth of the Dickinson Community indicates a need for a new station in the area of Hill Avenue and Deats Road.
