The Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department was established in 1942. The Dickinson Community has had a volunteer fire department for over 75 years.

 

The first fire station was located at the corner of Highway 3 and Minnesota Street. This station was in operation until 1961. A new Station was built at FM 517 & Dockrell which was in operation from 1961 to 2007. It is still owned and used by the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department as storage and special events.

 

In 1998, Station 2, located at 221 FM 517 West was built. The Dickinson Volunteer Department paid approximately $250,000 for the building. The building services the west side of the Dickinson Community. This station is maintained, operated and owned by the Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department.

The New Central Fire Station, located at 4500 FM 517 East was built in 2007 for $2.2 million. The building is owned, operated and maintained by the City of Dickinson. The City Paid EMS Service and offices operate out of this station. Dickinson Volunteer Fire Department houses some of it's equipment and business offices at this location.
